# Connecting your headset

Before connecting your headset to Launcher, please make sure that its battery is fully charged. 

#### **Bluetooth connection on MacOS**

To connect your headset with your chosen device:

1. Go to **Bluetooth settings** and turn Bluetooth on. 
2. Open EMOTIV Launcher, click on the **Bluetooth icon** and follow the steps.

3. Turn your headset on.
4. Your headset will appear in the devices list. If your headset is not listed, click on the refresh button. 
5. Click on **Connect** next to the headset you want to use.

**Bluetooth connection on Windows**

There are two states for connecting your EMOTIV headset; "unpaired" or "paired". If you are having trouble connecting in the "unpaired" state, then you should try pairing the device to your computer.

**Unpaired mode**

1. Go to **Settings** and turn Bluetooth on.
2. Turn on your headset.
3. Open Launcher and open the **Devices tab.**
4. Your headset will appear in the devices list. If your headset is not listed, click on the refresh button. 
5. Click on **Connect** next to the headset you want to use.

**Paired mode**

If you're having trouble connecting your headset, you should try pairing it to your computer:

1. Go to **Settings**, then **Bluetooth and other devices.**
2. Turn on your headset.
3. Turn on **Bluetooth** and click on **Add Bluetooth of other devices.**
4. Your headset will appear on the **Add a device list.**
5. Open Launcher and open the **Devices tab.**
6. Your headset will appear in the devices list. If your headset is not listed, click on the refresh button. 
7. Click on **Connect** next to the headset you want to use.

If you’re unable to connect your headset via Bluetooth, but have other Bluetooth devices connected to your computer (e.g. a keyboard or mouse), we recommend that you disconnect your other devices and then try reconnecting your headset. 

#### **USB receiver dongle connection**

We recommend that you use a USB receiver dongle if you are in an environment with high levels of Bluetooth interference. 

To connect your headset to Launcher using a USB receiver dongle:

1. Plug the USB receiver dongle into your computer’s USB port.
2. Turn on your headset
3. Open **Launcher** and open the **Devices** tab
4. Your headset will appear on the devices list. 
5. Click on **Connect** next to the headset you want to use. If more than one headset is available, click on the headset you want to connect.
