Results
There are two different results views —Overall Score and Detailed Comparison.
Your Score
Your score is a composite score that takes into account both accuracy and response time. A high score indicates a strong performance on both metrics.
Response Time
Response time shows the average time it took for you to respond to cues that required responses. Your response time is based on your correct key presses. Incorrect key presses (even if your response is fast) or misses do not count towards your average response time. By excluding incorrect responses, a fair comparison is made between your results and the results of your peers.
Accuracy
Accuracy shows the percentage of responses that you got correct during a game. Accuracy is calculated using the geometric mean of the ‘target’ (keypress required) and ‘non-targets (no keypress required) accuracies. The geometric mean is calculated using the square root of the product (‘target’ and ‘non target’ responses). The geometric mean is used to reward those who correctly detect the target as well as the non-targets. Age group comparison The age group comparison graph shows how your results compare to others who have played the same game in LABS, based on your age group. The dotted vertical lines show the top and bottom thirds of your age group.
Performance metrics this session
Your performance metrics are plotted on a performance metrics graph. The graph shows cognitive stress (orange), visual attention (purple), and engagement (yellow) during the last game you played.
The vertical dotted line on the graph separates your baseline data and your gameplay data.
Average performance metrics
Baseline
If you click on the baseline section of the graph, you will see your average baseline performance metrics vs. the average baseline results for others in your age group.
Gameplay
If you click on the gameplay section of the graph, you will see your average gameplay results vs. the average gameplay results for others in your age group.
Performance metrics and behavioural performance over time
Performance metrics and behavioural performance over time allow you to track your performance over the last ten games, so you can see how you’re improving each time you play the game.
The performance metrics tracked include:
Attention (purple);
Cognitive stress (orange);
Engagement* (yellow);
Average Accuracy (green); and
Average Response time (red).
*Engagement is not available for MN8 headsets
Average accuracy calculation
Average accuracy is calculated using the geometric mean of the accuracies of all the different ‘tasks’ in a game. The accuracy is the number of correct responses divided by the number of trials. The geometric mean of two values A and B is defined as Geometric Mean =A*B
For example: In the game Cerebral Circles, the participant is asked to press the spacebar when the plain green circle is displayed on the screen. For the participant to complete the game there are two actions: Press the spacebar when the plain green circle is displayed on the screen, and Not press the spacebar when the circle with the wedges is displayed on the screen.
Average response time
The average response time is the average time it takes to perform actions in a game (when the action is required). Responses for an unexpected action are ignored.
