Connecting Virtual Brainwear to LABS

Virtual Brainwear is EMOTIV’s headset emulator. It allows you to simulate EMOTIV’s EPOC X, EPOC+, and Insight headsets. The benefit of using Virtual Brainwear is that you can play games in Emotiv Games without wearing a physical headset—saving you time . Virtual Brainwear captures your accuracy and response time while playing a game. It does not capture performance metrics (EEG). Performance metrics can only be captured by a physical headset.

Accuracy and response time data is not saved to Emotiv Cloud.

To add a Virtual Brainwear device, you need to:

1. Open EMOTIV Launcher and login to your account using your EMOTIV ID and password.

2. Go to the Devices tab and click on Add a Virtual Brainwear device at the bottom of the app window. The Virtual Brainwear device window will open.

3. Click on the device you would like to simulate.

4. Click on Create Brainwear, at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

5. Your simulated device will then appear in the Devices tab.

6. When you’re ready to start using the device, click on the to the right-hand side and select Power On.

7. Your simulated device will then appear under Available Devices.

8. Click on the to the right-hand side of your chosen device and select Connect.

9. Open LABS and click on the Connect Headset button at the top of the screen.

10. Click on the Connect button next to your chosen headset. If your headset doesn’t connect, click on Refresh.

11. Your virtual device is now ready to use in LABS.
