# EPOC X

The EPOC X contains two chips, both of which require a firmware update. These are the steps to take in order to ensure that your EPOC X firmware is up to date and you are able to use your headset correctly.

1. Turn on your headset, and connect the USB cable into the headset port. Then connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer.&#x20;
2. Open Emotiv Launcher and go to the "Devices" tab. When the alert notification appears, click on "Proceed".

3\. Click on "Update via USB Cable".

4\. Click on "Update firmware".

5\. Click "OK" once the process has completed.

6\. Now remove the USB cable from your headset, and turn on Bluetooth on your computer. 7\. When the alert notification appears, click on "Proceed".

8\. Click on "Update via Bluetooth".

9\. Click on "Update firmware". Keep the headset close to your computer and away from other Bluetooth devices for the duration of the update.

10\. Click "Finish" once the process has completed.
